With the show in Cessnock coming up, me and my friends are considering getting trained at AWF's training school. A question, if we got at the venue early enough is there any posibility that one of the wrestlers might do like a demo training. Like do a few spots, etc?
I know there would be insurance problems, but would anyone actually help us out?

Steveo,
Your suggestion isn't really that far-fetched as trainees are usually an integral part of the ring crew, and with Sydney shows there has often been a two hour training session for those not wrestling, once the ring has been assembled. Your biggest obstacle is time. 1. With six weeks or so to go, will you have learnt the bumps and holds to a point where you are practicing in the ring? 2. With the show being in Cessnock not Sydney will we have a couple of hours to spare? These are the X-factors. You wanna go for it? On the hand there will be other shows even if you don't get in the ring as soon as you hoped, and besides, anything worth having is worth waiting for. Trust me. We all have. CB

Well here is the deal. I have a friend who has built a proper wrestling ring in his backyard and been wrestling in there for about 3 months on and off. We go alright yet some stuff we do need work, eg; striking punches properly and a strong convincing tieup (some friends lack that ability).
Depending on what time you boys set up the ring in Cessnock (if you don't know, 2 hours travel from Sydney) you may have enough time to help us out. If not before the show, whether the guys are up to it of course, the club doesn't close until about 11pm which may not be enough time but still.
Anyway, thanks for replying

Let me elaborate. We are not going to let anyone in the ring that has not already trained with the AWF. End of story. As for Cessnock being two hours from Sydney, are you sure that applies to a truck carrying 3 and a half tonne of equipment that does an average speed of 80kph on the highways and about 50kph in built up areas? No you're not, but thanks for the suggestion. CB

C.B is right. The cab with the ring takes ages to get to the destination but not just about that he's also right about the whole basics thing too. I saw the vid and no doubt you can do some impressive things but bumping in your ring and bumping in our dojo or AWF ring are 2 different things. Kid Dynamite will agree with me (as well as everyone else at AWF) First you gotta learn to crawl, then walk and then to wrestle. That includes paying your dues i.e SETTING UP THE RING! So start training then worry about the ring when the trainer knows you're ready.

but anyways. i've been able to walk for 14 years I don't think that this is the right attitude to be taking. Anyone can wrestle in a backyard and bore us to tears. And anyone is a far greater percentage than those who finish training.

Ignore Reece. He may sound like a smart ass on the boards but in real life he is very serious about wrestling... but not before or after he has wrestled. I am looking forward to coming to AWF in July.
