AWF NEWS JANUARY – FEBRUARY 2007
-What a whirlwind month January has been so far. The AWF Championship changed hands 3 times in 2 days over the weekend of January 6 & 7’s New Year’s Revolution events… In the big Three Way Elimination at Blacktown, TNT defeated Steve Ravenous after the “Crazyjack” twisting elbow, which was led in by a Van-Terminator dropkick by Cima, to end Ravenous’ eight month Championship reign and win the AWF Title…
TNT’s reign however lasted only a few minutes, as he was defeated in the conclusion of the bout by Cima with his “Crossfire” powerbomb. Cima was crowned the first AWF Champion not of Australian nationality to a great reaction from the crowd and celebrating AWF Wrestlers… However at Cardiff, in front of a sellout crowd, TNT was able to out wrestle the Japanese sensation Cima, and pin him after delivering “The Detonator” to once again become the AWF Australian Champion… So after some exciting happenings TNT is the current AWF Australian Champion, and is set to face contenders Jay Law (3 Feb – King Tom Club), Future Shock (10 Feb – Campbelltown Catholic Club), USA’s Steve Corino (23 March – Cardiff Panthers) and Kid Dynamite (14 April). AWF Wrestling wishes TNT the best of luck as the new Champion.
- Scotty Club remained champion over the New Year’s Revolution weekend defeating challengers Toxin and Zander Bathory. Waiting in the wings are the future challenges of Billy Flyswat & Dr Waxhead, plus Powerhouse Theo, and former partner The Captain.
- The Detonation Crew of TNT & Kid Dynamite exploded at the Blacktown NYR event, with Kid Dynamite smashing TNT with a chair at the climax of the AWF Title bout, setting up the opening for Cima (unknown to him) to win the AWF Title. After the bout, a bewildered TNT was searching furiously for Kid Dynamite, who had seemingly aligned himself with Steve Ravenous and swiftly left the arena. It appears that Ravenous, who helped Dynamite overthrow Mark Hilton in the Australia’s Cup Ladder Match earlier on the card, and Kid Dynamite may have been in co-hoots to cost TNT the belt. Both Ravenous and Dynamite have denied any comment on the subject except telling fans to show up to “Detonation Time” on 3 Feb and see what is going to happen to TNT.
- Jay Law is the Number 1 Contender for the AWF Title, and will get his shot at the King Tom Club on 3 February. Law has been teaming and training with TNT’s most recent nemesis, The Future Shock and has gotten inside strategies from Shock, to try and undo TNT. This one two punch of Law and Shock could be all TNT can handle.
- USA’s Number 1 Independent Wrestler and current AWA World Champion Steve Corino will be appearing at Cardiff Panthers on 23 March Vs TNT in a USA Vs. Australia bout at the event aptly named “International Showdown”. The debut AWF event at Cardiff Panthers was a turnaway sellout, so we advise AWF fans to book really early so as to get seats to this event, as it is sure to no doubt be the hottest ticket in town come March 23. Full Card and details will be announced shortly. Tickets are on sale now from Cardiff Panthers by booking on 02 4979 1900 or purchasing at the club. Don’t miss this history making event!
- The King Tom Club event on 3 Feb will see Mark Hilton battle Il Cognito in an AWF Title Conenders bout, with the winner receiving a title shot at the next King Tom event.

Later in the card Steve Ravenous mouthed off challenging for international challengers, and Helton appeared and said he welcomes Ravenous’ challenge. AWF has set Ravenous Vs Helton for the 23 March “International Invasion” Cardiff event.
