AWF is awesome. I love the work you guys are doing.
I just wanted to ask to see if your views were the same as mine on NWA Australia.
As a fan of wrestling I DONT think that NWA Australia is a good idea. Because companies like the AWF, IWA, MPW ect are going to just be "Swept away". To me I think the NWA is going to "Steal" the best talent from NSW, QLD ect and claim them your there own.
Then after all the hard work of establishing Australian promotions, there will just be one dominate one.
I think that every state should have one or two wrestling promotions to establish "Territories"
I really don’t like this idea of NWA at all, what are your thoughts?

Greetings, To be honest, I think that NWA Australia will be a failure, because the majority of Australians' don't even know what NWA stands for & most people who do are just casual fans who think lowly of NWA as all they like is WWE, so I think that the promotoer of NWA Aus has invested a lot of money into something that has a frail base. I think that AWF, PCW will be around far longer than NWA Aus will as they have developed a fanbase & are respected. Another aspect is Adelaide is not a city that people would choose over Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane, & I think most wrestlers would rather stay in Sydney & work for AWF than relocate to NWA Australia & work for them. I have a friend who is one of the owners of XAW & I hope that they do better than NWA Aus

You can't just throw 4 guys together and call them the Beatles. NWA Australia, withou the TV exposure is just a rose by any other name, but without the names If you follow my meaning. CB

CB is right, anything involved with popularity, television & music needs to reach a certain criteria to have a remote chance of being successful.
The nWo angle in WCW in 1996 only worked cause of the big name superstars they brought in, prior to that WCW was not a match for WWF on a regular basis.
The main problem with the current world is the fact that so many 'hidden costs' apply to them. What I mean is you cannot go to the football with your own food or drinks, instead you have to buy them there & they charge about $3 more than they would at a local shop, therefore the ticket may cost around $30 but by the end of the event & after you have eaten & had something to drink, you would have gone through $40-$50 including the price of the ticket.
A lot of people have developed the mentality that they prefer to watch events in the comfort of their own home on tv cause they can get up & get their own drinks for free, they are not surrounded by other people & are in their own privacy & the fact WWE are running 2 shows a week on Fox 8 means that most people are content watching that.
I have never been to an Australian wrestling show therefore I don't know if it is legal or not to bring food & drinks, but I think that developing a friendly relationship with the people is the road to success.
Again I will use football as an example, the Broncos used to get 60,000 at their games when people could bring their own food & drinks, then when they made it illegal to do that they only got around $20,000 if that.
I know I have gone off the tracks here & ranted a little too much, but I think that the greed that our Government & the various sporting leagues developed over the last decade has severely harmed wrestlings future in Australia.
Membership will probably end up being the most vital way for an Australian wrestling promotion to survive as it has held many football clubs together.
Personally, I have always thought the best way for Australian wrestling to grow is through the schools of Australia. What I mean is AWF could hold events at a school each week, have the kids maybe pay $2.50 to watch it & we all know that kids will pay to see anything to get out of class & they will like wrestling & while this would bring in some money it would also develop a larger fanbase.
For every child who pays to watch the show at their school, they could be given a coupon that states; "If 1 adult purchases a ticket to see an AWF event, a child gets to see the event for free."
To be honest, I think the name; "NWA" is not a very appealing name at all, I think that AWF sounds much better.
Why I have talked about all of this is cause NWA nor any promotion in Australia has recongised stars that would send people flocking to their events, while their wrestlers are very talented & would probably make it to the big time if they were in north America, Australians just don't know who they are & as a result don't care about them which is unfortunate, therefore the only way Australian wrestling can work is if they develop a strong relationship with the people. NWA Australia seem to think those 3 initials will make them successful, what they don't realise is unless they have Sting mainevent their shows, no one will take it seriously.

I have 2 letters for you - T V. Whoever gets a tv deal (Fox Sports representatives,i'm looking at YOU) will have an instant edge over their competition (ie:Those that aren't on tv)
By the way, while I remember, half of the links on the main AWF website dont work. They all go to a page of text talking about some guys dream to be a wrestler.

To Carlos Colon (ie,WWC owner) thanks for your intelligent banter. I hope your foreheads looking better. Harp on all you want. At least somebody does and you seem to be attracting views, and your pro-activity is anything but offensive. Ditto Lonewolf and Big Fan. To G Force, Brrrr'ri-du: baby needs us. ...and to anyone bored in Newcastle, learn to surf. CB

Problem with TV.
I spoke to Andy Raymond last year about wrestilng & tv, & he said that Fox Sports is NOT interested in broadcasting local wrestling, they are just content on showing the Australian Supershow once a year.
That really is heartbreaking for all Australian wrestling fans, but maybe SBS would be interested or the ABC, good thing is with them both being Government owned stations, they may give funding but the chances of that are near to zero, but who knows, they televise local sporting leagues & there is a remote chance they would be interested in televising wrestling.

Foreheads? My forehead is looking good now, but it was not on the 9th of November, that was the day I fell unconscious & ended up falling down a set of stairs & fractured my skull just above my left eye, was in hospital for 7 days.

...and to anyone bored in Newcastle, learn to surf. CB pfft, im from newcastle and im bored but i dont wanna surf!! i wanna wrestle! so when im bored i will wreslte in HVWAs home made ring! so ER. (this is completely irelivent) ANYWAYS! if this NWA is owned by NWA : TNA and NWA Wildside. i think that they will bring some of there big name wrestlers over here to create a fanbase, then when they establish it those wrestlers will go back to TNA and Wildside and NWA Aus will get TV time and i think it will succeed. but only if they have the owner is jarret. if not, i think it will fail. and i know what NWA stands for and im a 'full time' fan and i love NWA. i like NWA : TNA, NWA wildside, RoH, New Japan and heaps of other feds.

Well what they could do is former WWE stars who work mainly in Japan but have appeared on TNA, well they may get them to work a few shows for NWA Australia as Australia is closer to Japan than USA therefore wouldn't be so far out of their range.
IN fact the wrestlers could base themselves in Australia & tour to Japan to work the shows they are signed for as Australia is a beautiful nation, best in the world in many aspects, is a great holiday destination & is like USA in many ways & different in many ways too, but I think an American would find living in Australia to be more at home than living in Japan & more affordable.
It would be good to see some Japanese wrestlers work for NWA TNA cause some of them CAN wrestle & would put on a good match, & would be more willing to put over Australian talent than the likes of those on TNA.
