Anyone think that it's currently the most prestigious belt in Australia?
I mean look at the International Stars that have challenged for it this year alone:
CIMA
Steve Corino
Hugh Morrus (He challenged for it never got his shot though)
Bryan Danielson
Plus this weekend TNT defends against:
Billy Kidman
Austin Aries
Kid Kash
Also Australian Challengers include:
TNT (NYR Night 1 and 2)
Jay Law
JT Robinson
Steve Frost.
Il Cognito
Some of the best wrestlers.

I think when Sabu came over years ago he challenged for it as well. SABU! Also I don't know who it was but I think he fought a guy for the title in a loser leaves town match. TNT won after putting the guy through the table. The other guy got escorted from the building by cops. Can anyone confirm that? Not many guys have held it over the span of 8 yrs....I think. Cima, TNT 2-3 times (not sure), Mark Hilton, Il Cognito?, Steve Ravenous and.....um..... I'll be buggered if I know anymore. Help please?

I wouldnt say the most prestigious, when really none are that prestigious. it is only metal and leather. When its also only been around for not even 8 years. Correct me if im wrong but wasnt the AWF championship created over a year after it began?

Correct me if im wrong but wasnt the AWF championship created over a year after it began? Thats horrible to say. If several people want something it's prestigious. TNT is defending the belt against Aries and Kash and also at Psychotic Slam he'll be up against Ryo Saito and Masaaki Mochizuki and if he retains there he'll go into Dragon Gate as AWF Heavyweight Champion. It's a very prestigious title belt it's not just some leather.

Can you really call it prestigious when the people you listed... not everyone has actually held the belt?
It really starts to get meaning when you see whos held the belt...not who's challenged for it

Can you really call it prestigious when the people you listed... not everyone has actually held the belt? It really starts to get meaning when you see whos held the belt...not who's challenged for it Well yeah it is still prestigious. TNT has succesfully defended the belt against all those names. That means that the wrestler did there best and still could not beat TNT. If you have the American Wrestling Association World Heavyweight Champion coming for the belt it's a big deal. If you have a former WCW United States Champion coming for the belt it's a big deal. If you have someone who is once of the main aces in Dragon Gate coming for the belt it's a big deal. If you have a former ROH World Heavyweight Champion coming for your belt it's a big deal. If you have a former WCW Cruiserweight Champion coming for your belt thats also a pretty big deal. And having Austin Aries who ended Joe's massive reign coming for your belt is big aswell. Not to Mention Kash who is a former ECW Television Champion and he's challenging for it aswell. Plus TNT also is defending against Masaaki Mochizuki who i have heard is the main star of Dragon Gate so thats a big deal. And Ryo Saito who is also coming over. It's a big deal the belt is one of the most sought after prizes in Australia.

Errr .... um ... they dont look at whos held the belt.... if you look at a top belt ... people tend to know whos won the belt....not whos gone for it. Remember that international talent that come to Australia are more then likely to go for the feds world title to add more hype.
The title is big to AWF but it is not that significant in the world. I understand where you are coming from Shane ...but unless the person physically wins the belt, to me it does not add anything to the belt except a successful title defence.
